Out & Back Hikes begin and end at the same place. The hike may, or may not, encompass the entire length of a trail. If the Hike does not include the entire trail, but goes only to a destination on the trail, then the name of the hike will include that destination. If the hike covers the entire trail, then the name of the hike will be the name of the trail.
Point to Point hikes begin a one point or place and end at another. The hike may be on a single trail, or on multiple trails. Further, the trails included in the hike may, or may not, be hike in full. The additional factor added to these hikes is the issue of transportation. How do you get to the starting point, and how do you return from the ending point. In this collection, Point-to-Points hikes will be defined by the starting and ending point, and will include the names of the trails involved.
Loop Hikes, like Out-&-Back Hikes, begin and end at the same place. Typically, multiple trails are involved, though some trails are developed as loop trails. Also, some Loop Hikes begin on a trail that leads to a second trail that is the starting point of the loop. In that case, to complete the loop, the hike will return to that starting point of the second trail. The first trail is then hiked as and Out & Back to the place where the hike began.
